Export to QuickBooks Online or Xero

BlueTac writes your records as CSV files laid out for QuickBooks Online and for Xero, for an accountant who keeps the books there.

What you can export

  • From Invoicing: your issued client invoices and your billing clients, as customers.
  • From Accounting, on the Export to QuickBooks or Xero tab: invoices, customers, bills, journal entries and the chart of accounts.

Exports are open to the primary owner, and other owners or managers the primary owner has given financial access.

How the files work

  • The files are made in your browser from the records you can already see. Nothing connects to QuickBooks Online or Xero, and nothing is stored.
  • Choose the date order, month first (MM/DD/YYYY) or day first (DD/MM/YYYY), to match the place you import into.
  • A large export is split into numbered parts, each its own download, and one invoice, bill or journal entry is never split across parts.
  • An invoice with sales tax is left out of the QuickBooks Online file, with a note naming it, so you can enter it there by hand.
  • An invoice whose stored tax does not add up to its lines is left out of both files, with a note.
  • Before the Xero chart of accounts file, BlueTac asks you to confirm that it is for a new Xero organisation, or that you have added your existing Xero accounts to it.

QuickBooks Online and Xero each bring these files in with their own CSV import.
